Definitions

Definitions listed in this regulation together with their meaning:

  • Pedestrian: A person traveling on foot, those who are traveling using tiny wheels such as bicycle, as well as one wheel handcarts handicapped chairs, and wheelchairs.
  • Passenger: Every person other than the driver in the vehicle or on top of it.
  • Road: A thoroughfare, route, or way on land that allows travel by foot, animal, or vehicle. Any way that exists, or shall exist in other communities are considered as road, according to provisions of Traffic Act.
  • Vehicle road: The part of the road that is designated to vehicles.
  • Lane: A part of a roadway (carriageway) that is designated to be used by a single line of vehicles, to control and guide drivers and reduce traffic conflicts
  • Cross roads: A road that crosses a main road or runs cross-country between main roads, including the open area covering these roads.
  • Railway crossing: A place where a railway line and a road meet each other on the same level.
  • Traffic direction: The right side of the road in the same direction where the vehicle or the pedestrian are proceeding.
  • The opposite direction: The reverse direction in the same road where a vehicle or the pedestrian are proceeding in an exact moment when the traffic flows is heading from the other direction.
  • The opposite vehicle: A vehicle that is coming from the reverse direction on a road where other vehicles are heading from the other direction.
  • The following traffic: The subsequently proceeding of vehicles of a certain vehicle in its direction.
  • Stop: the vehicle is stopped when it stays still for some time to facilitate the passage of the pedestrians, to pick up/drop off persons, or load /unload goods.
  • Waiting: The vehicle is considered waiting when it parks for certain/uncertain time in some place for a reason other than mentioned in item (12) and conditions of parking to avoid impeding others from using the same road according to traffic systems.
  • High beam lighting: is intended to ensure optimum illumination of the road surface vertically in front of the vehicle.
  • The dipped beam light: is intended to ensure optimum illumination of the road surface without dazzling drivers/pedestrians in oncoming traffic.
  • Sidelights: front/rear lights that are declaring the vehicle's dimensions and location.
  • Payload capacity: is the maximum weight of the vehicle's cargos upon manufacturing tolerance.
  • Curb weight: is the total mass of a vehicle with standard equipment and all necessary operating consumables such as motor oil, transmission oil, coolant, air conditioning refrigerant, and sometimes a full tank of fuel, while not loaded with either passengers or cargo.
  • Gross vehicle mass (GVM): It refers to the current weight of a vehicle with all of its parts and everything inside it including cargo and passengers.
